Dotson Family | Hendrix Village Family Session | Conway, AR Family Photographer

The Dotson Family is very dear to me. Katy and I first met as staff members of The City of Hope Outreach. I was drawn to her from day one because she's so sweet and genuine. After she had her first baby, a sweet girl, Katy asked me to take her newborn photos. It was my first newborn session ever and I didn't have a clue what I was doing, but she was gracious and even referred her father to me for a few headshots for his compaign for judge, (Please forgive me if I got that wrong!) A couple of years later when my husband and I were weary with searching for a new church home, we decided to go visit Katy and her husband Russell at their church and it quickly became like home to us. Last year, they were blessed with another baby, and again they gave me the honor of photographing his newborn days. You can see those here. This past Spring, my family bought our first house, and just a few months later, Katy and her family had bought a new home right across the street! Seriously, our friendship was meant to be! Since then, we have had our fair share of play-dates and mommy-needs-a-break rant sessions. I am so thankful for their family. If you asked either of my kids who their best friend was....they'd say Maggie or Eli! This Fall, Katy approached me once again, but this time for a full family session. It was a BLAST. They're a beautiful family, and I loved almost every single image I got that day. You could chronical my entire growth as a photographer using only images from the Dotson Family, and I couldn't be more grateful that they've given me the opportunity to document their lives so often. Our big if-we-get-this-shot-the-session-will-be-perfect photo was one of both kids together and smiling. Maggie Jo wasn't interested in getting very far from momma, and she definitely didn't want my camera in her face, so it looked like it wasn't going to happen. But with a little quick clicking and a Photoshop headswap, we did it!
